No more hydrogen peroxide, the Watter system is the solution for disinfection!

Hydrogen peroxide-based disinfectants are used for many different applications. Do you currently use hydrogen peroxide to disinfect water, surfaces and/or areas for example in animal husbandry, healthcare, factories or agriculture? If so, you can now rely on the human-, animal- and environmentally friendly disinfectant Watter!

What is hydrogen peroxide?

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), consisting of the elements oxygen and water, is a common agent often used in disinfection. In the past, you could have come across this substance as a wound disinfectant, which caused the stinging pain in the wound. Nowaday, H2O2 is not advised as a wound disinfectant. Research has shown that it doesn’t actually help with healing the wound and it might cause skin irritation. However, Hydrogen peroxide has disinfecting properties and therefore can be used as a surface disinfectant for instance in the industrial sector, in animal husbandry to disinfect stables, and many more [1].

Unfortunately, Hydrogen peroxide is unstable and in high concentrations can be quite aggressive. Hydrogen peroxide is corrosive to skin, eyes, and mucous membranes at high concentrations, while the lower ones still may cause irritation. Other effects occur from inhalation or ingestion and may include gas embolism, gastric irritation, gastric distension and emesis, an accumulation of fluid in the lungs, unconsciousness, and respiratory arrest [2].

Watter Disinfection Solution

Watter produces better, safer, and environmentally friendly solution for disinfection. The active ingredient in our Watter Disinfection Solution (WDS) is hypochlorous acid (HOCl). The Watter System creates the WDS using 3 simple elements: water, salt, and electricity. Electrolysis of water and salt creates a stable disinfectant that is effective against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeasts. [3] HOCI is a body's own substance produced by our neutrophils (white blood cells) to fight infections. WDS is hypoallergenic, kind to the skin and does not sting. At a lower dosage, our liquid is as effective as persistent chlorine agents, making it ideal for disinfection.

Why switch to the Watter system?

Besides being chemical-free and therefore good for humans, animals and the environment, our disinfection also has low operating costs. This is because the system is an in-situ solution, which means that the disinfectant can be produced on site. This has the following advantages:

  • Less plastic waste
  • No transportation costs
  • Not on the hazardous materials list
  • No safety regulations

Feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities.

Convinded that our Watter system can be an effective alternative to your current method of disinfection?
