'Over the years, biofilm developed in our pipework. We rinsed with chemicals at regular intervals, but their effect always turned out to be only temporary.' Bert Blaauw, manager Quality at Frisian Egg in Drachten now has the solution with the Watter system: 'We have now simply found something that just works well. Previously there was always a relapse. Now we don't have that.'
In recent years, the Frisian egg processor has been searching for a solution to germination problems. As the plant grew, the water system expanded little by little, resulting in germ-prone areas such as dead ends. "We tried disinfecting it with nitric acid, peracetic acid, caustic soda..." lists Bert, "Each time there was a decrease in contamination at first, but after a while it came back just as fast. Since Watter, the germ count is always zero.'
With the Watter system, the company is assured of germ-free process water. An additional advantage is the prevention of microorganisms such as Pseudomonas and Listeria in the water. The Watter system produces its own disinfectant on site from water, salt and electricity, which it then doses automatically. A child can do the job, according to Bert: "It's nice that we only have to throw salt in. No fussing with storage and using products full of skulls.
Financially, the choice of a device was also more favorable than the continuous purchase of jerry cans: 'First of all, the aforementioned chemicals were aggressive: parts and pipes were affected and had to be replaced. In addition, everyone can calculate that continuously purchasing resources in a jar is more expensive in the long run than a one-time investment. We were also able to take advantage of tax benefits through the MIA/Vamil scheme and the operational costs are very low.
All in all, the native Drent can recommend the system to anyone: "We don't want to live without it anymore!
